Stevens Point Captain promoted to Assistant Fire Chief

STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point Fire Department officials welcomed a new Assistant Chief on Tuesday evening.
Captain J.B. Moody was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief at Tuesday’s Police and Fire Commission meeting, to which family and friends showed an outpouring of support.
“…We certainly want to be reflective of the significance of this moment, as we say thank you to one Assistant Cheif for 21 years of service (Asst. Chief Jodi Baganz, who will be retiring this year) to the City of Stevens Point, and welcome to the chief’s rank, another deserving individual.” said Police and Fire Commission President Gary Westcott.
Moody will take the rank of Assistant Chief, officially, as of July 16.
“I would like to thank my family for being here this evening for sharing in this occasion,” said Moody shortly after being promoted by Chief Robert Finn. “I’d also like to thank the Chief, Police and Fire Commission, and the common council for having faith in me, and hopefully in my next five to ten years in this position, or longer, try to do the best of my abilities.
A special thanks to the guys in back — the guys in blue — without them, this wouldn’t even be possible to move into this position. The hard work they provide on a daily basis and what they do makes the shift commander shine, because as we sit behind a desk, they’re out there doing the hard work, and I really do appreciate that.”
